Teaching procedures

Step 1 Pre-story

1. Brain Strom

   Say some names about housework. make... clean... wash...

2. Look and find

   Look at the picture carfully and find out who they are and where they are.

Step 2 While-story

1. Listen and match

  (1) Listen to page 48 and match what they are doing in the morning.

 


                                          

                                       sweep the floor

                           

                                       sleep

 

                                       clean the car

 

                                       cook breakfast

 

                                       help his father

(2) Check the answer

a. What is Mike’s father doing? He’s cleaning the car. Which picture is right? Read after the teacher.

b. What is Mike’s mother doing? She is cooking breakfast.

c. Let the students ask and answer: What is Mike doing? He is helping his father. He is cleaning the car. What are they doing? They are cleaning the car.

d. What is Helen doing? She is sweeping the floor. Say the whole sentence: Helen is sweeping the floor.

e. Tim and Ben. What is Tim/Ben doing? Tim/Ben is sleeping.

2. Ask and answer

  Use the pictures and the sentence structures to ask and answer with partner one.

  Sentence structures: What is/are ... doing? He/She is... They are...

3. Listen and imitate

4. Read and underline

  (1) Read page 49 in silence and underline the sentences what they are doing in the afternoon.

  (2) Check the answer.

a. Let the students ask and answer: What is Mike’s mother/Mike/Helen doing? She/He is...

b. Answer the questions: What are Tim, Jim and Ben doing?

5. Listen and imitate

6. Retell the story

  Retell the story according to the blackboard writing. Practise with partner two.

7. Read and understand

  I am helping him. Helen and I are helping her. What do him and her stand for?

8. Emotional education

  Do you help your parents at home? What do you do for your parents?

Step 3 Post-story

1. Think and guess

  What are Mike’s family doing in the evening? Maybe...is/are...

2. Read and complete

Read and complete the picture story. Read the picture story together.

Homework:

1. Read Story time fluently and try to retell.

2. Finish the exercises of Page 50.

3. Write a story about your family activities on Sunday.
