Mother! Dear mother!教学设计

Step1. Warm up

T: Hello, boys and girls. Today I’m your new English teacher. First I want to know sth about you.

S1--What’s your name?  Nice to meet you, xxx. What subject do you like? Why? 

(T: It’s exciting/magic/funny. It makes you happy.)

S2—Hi, boy! What animal do you like best? Why?

(T: I like animals too. Especially dogs, little cats(kitten), the fluffy animals.

S3—What’s your hobby? Do you read books/play football every day/after school? Do you like reading? Reading makes you smart.

(T: I like reading. I like reading the animal stories very much.)

T: Just now I talked about you. So who knows “What do I like?”

S: You like animals. You like reading.

T: Great. Now let’s play a game about animals. “Riddles.” I read you guess.

S: Listen and say quickly.

Step2. Presentation and practice

1. Read the cover

  T: You did a good job. Then we’re going to read a picture book. Look at the cover. Can you guess what is the picture book about?

  S: It’s about …

2. View the pictures

T: Nice. It’s about animals and their mothers. Now can you find all the animal mothers in the book? Open your books, view it quickly and find all the animal mothers. Look, time is limited. Come no!

S: Say the words.

T: Put the pictures on the blackboard.

  Lead them to read all the words: swan, tadpole, dolphin

T: You find all the animals. Let’s look at swan. Do you know sth about the swan?

What does she have?  How does she look? What can she do?

S: She has two wings. She looks very beautiful and elegant. She can swim and fly.

3. Read for key information

T: If you have some new words when you read the story, what will you do to know their meaning?

S: Ask the teacher, ask your partner, guess the meaning according to the story/the picture…

S: Read fast, find the key words.

T: The key words for each mother to describe them, take out your pencil and underline them.

S: Read the key words in your groups.

T: Look, I have some words here. Can you answer “Who is funny?”Put the words on the blackboard.

S: The penguin mother is funny.

T: Who is very tall? Who has a long neck?

S: The giraffe mother is very tall. She has a long neck.

T: They are all keys words. Then show the key words you underline to class.

S: The kangaroo has strong legs. She can jump far.

S2: The lion is kind. She looks stern.

T: Look, I’m the mother lion now. I look stern. But I am kind to you.

S3: Swan: beautiful, elegant, two wings.

S4: Come to the front and choose the words “smart, swim fast” to put on the bb.

T: What does “gentle/ fashionable” mean?

S5: elephant: giant, gentle

S6: fox: fashionable, a big and fluffy tail

T: What about the mother frog? Can you try to read the sentences?

  Her babies don’t look like her.

  Her babies want to be like her.

The tadpole doesn’t look like her mother.

Why big letters? It means stress. They want you know that is true.

T: So choose one animal to draw a mind map.

S: Draw the mind map.(上台 投影)

4. Enjoy reading

T: We know more about mother animals. Then let’s enjoy reading from the very beginning. I want you to pay attention to the repeating sentences.

S: Listen to the story.

Step 3. Consolidation

T: This time please read together in groups. You can choose the best way to read.

Then you should answer the last sentence. That is a question. I want you to answer the question from each page.

S: Read the book, answer each question.

  T: Ask three students to answer the questions.

  S: Say the answers one by one.

T: I want you to talk about your mother. What does your mother look like? Is she kind?

I want you to say like a poem with the music.

Step 4. Homework

1. Draw a mind map about this book.

2. Read more books about animals.
